Hikkaduwa

We have Tatu and Johanna visiting with their daughter Carita and we just had a weekend in Hikkaduwa for the by now regular grinding routine of palm trees, king coconuts, pools, sun beds, beach, dead coral reef, banana shaped boats, sea shells, surf sound, palm squirrels, vile coffee and flip flops.

Here is a view across the bay to the splendidly violet and purple DOLPHIN RESTAURANT. I'm not sure if the name implies what is on the menu, the spirit of the establishment or the clientele.

This gives the feel of the place: palm trees, surf and sea haze, and a security guard to ensure that the certain boundaries don't become as hazy as the horizon.

Anu ran from the beach to alert me to these huge green turtles in the shallows by the hotel. It was astounding how well the huge turtles blended in with the coral and rock, especially as their back even had some sort of seaweed growing over them. My wonder was somewhat checked when I heard that they were virtually pets of the hotel: they had been given names and were fed daily and I was just one of the goofing tourists they had witnessed in their (what Anu was informed was) 85 years on the planet.

Flemout

We seem to have spent more time at Lanka Hospitals than we had planned to. Resultantly, while awaiting for a prescription to be fulfilled I have been perusing the glass cabinet of pharmaceuticals. Here are a couple of favourites.

There is this charmingly titled syrup:

And this homage to my hometown (third from the left), Fleet, the garlanded 3-years-in-a-row winner of the happiest town in the UK, now with a ready-to-use function:
